Recording and producing at Monarch Studios, Vancouver

Background in audio engineering

Devon Eggers began his journey with audio engineering during high school in the late 90's. He started by assisting his music teacher with live sound for concerts and other events at school, and then did his work-experience program with a local live-sound and DJ company. After graduation Devon moved to Vancouver, Canada, where he completed the Audio Engineering program at the Art Institute (Formerly CDIS).

After graduating from The Art Institute in 2003, Devon was one of the few students to obtain a job working in one of the major Vancouver studios. He was hired at Greenhouse, where he quickly became the house engineers of Studio A, which is where Nickleback had previously wrote and recorded some of their most famous music.

During his time at Greenhouse, Devon worked with and learned from some major names such as; GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Chevelle, Mudvayne), Devin Townsend (Devin Townsend Band, Strapping Young Lad), a Dave Genn (Matthew Good Band, 54-40).

After leaving Greenhouse, Devon continued to work as recording and mixing engineer, which included:

- Joining a production team with Brian Howes (Closure)

- Working independently out of other major studios including, The Armoury

- Focusing on creating his own music and became a Canadian Radio Rock TOP 40 artist and recognized as an up and coming artist in      a Billboard magazine report

- Increasing his knowledge in acoustics and started building and designing home recording studios and custom acoustic treatment

- Being a finalist/winner in several music mixing competitions

Mixing Services

Devon works as a music mixing engineer for hire out of his private studio. Mixing music is his passion when it comes to collaboration with other artists, and the area of music production he has most focused on over the years. He has experience mixing all genres, so all styles are welcome.

The price of Devon's mixing services vary per project, since each project has it's own unique variables. The number of songs, number of tracks per song, song length(s), types of sounds used, etc., all impact how much work is required when mixing. Because of this Devon quotes his mixing fee on a per project basis.

If you'd like to discuss your mixing needs in detail with Devon, you can reach him through the CONTACT portal on this page, or on Facebook.

Music review Services

The music industry has changed a lot the last couple decades. Most music is now made in isolation, quite often with one person performing many roles alone. Even full bands frequently rely on only themselves to write, record, mix, and produce their music. Because it is less common for musicians to find themselves in a recording studio with a dedicated producer and recording/mixing engineer, there is less collaboration, and less people hearing and enhancing the music to help it be the best it can be.

To adapt to these changes, Devon now offers three review services to help those working in isolated situations benefit from the input and feedback of a skilled producer, engineer, writer, and musician. These services are designed to help musicians get extra input on their work at various stages of the process so they can make the best music possible. They're also designed to help musicians working on a strict budget who can't afford a producer or mixing engineer.

These services include:

1) Mix Review

  • Devon reviews your mix and provides in a document detailed feedback and recommendations to help you improve it.

  • Your mix is reviewed in multiple locations, using multiple speakers/systems.

  • This is strictly a sonic review of the mix.

2) Musical Review

  • Devon reviews your song as a musical piece and provides in a document detailed feedback about where he thinks it needs improvement.

  • Additional reviews can be added at multiple stages throughout the writing process.

  • You maintain 100% ownership of your music.

3) Musical Review with Production Input

  • Devon reviews your song as a musical piece and provides in a document detailed feedback about how he thinks it could be improved, which may include specific recommendations about what to try or do.

  • This review is designed to bridge the gap between how producers used to work in-studio, and today's isolated production environments. However, instead of taking a percentage ownership and royalties as a producer used to do, Devon provides this service for a fixed fee. No royalties will be owed, and you will retain 100% ownership of your material.

  • Additional reviews can be added at multiple stages throughout the writing process.
